SaaS for Aptean PLM Lascom Edition
Let us start with a few reminders: Cloud Computing is based on the idea of renting computer resources (servers, storage, databases, network management, software, etc.) accessible via the internet, without the user knowing where the data is. SaaS or Software-as-a-Service is a subset of the cloud corresponding to a software rental service (here Aptean Food and Beverage PLM Lascom Edition) by a provider to a customer who accesses it via the internet. The pricing is based on the chosen solution scope.
We have developed our SaaS offerings to meet the need for simplicity and speed of companies when implementing new IT projects. Thus, we can offer our PLM to SMEs, for whom a PLM project can be very complex between the necessary infrastructures, the deployment of the project, etc. In SaaS, our application does not require a major implementation project. In the end, with improved speed of implementation, better collaboration for users, more efficient change management, reduced TCO (total cost of ownership), and an almost immediate ROI, the customer wins on all counts.
We offer Aptean Food and Beverage PLM Lascom Edition, a PLM SaaS solution hosted on Microsoft Azure, Microsoft’s Cloud platform. This solution, aimed at the food and cosmetics industries, comes in two offers: “Essential” and “Corporate“.
Whether for cosmetics or food, the Essential offer focuses on the development and management of the company’s product specifications. The “Corporate” offer proposes an expanded scope by integrating project management features and modules for product quality, supplier relationship and formulation.

Microsoft Azure: a legitimate choice for our PLM
Our choice was guided by technical aspects:
- ISO27001 certification: important for the hosts as it guarantees the quality of the service. It is also a requirement of many tenders from companies wishing to equip themselves with SaaS solutions.
- The ability to operate globally: working with a global player gives us access to data centers (a place that brings together constituent equipment from the information system of one or more companies) around the world. We can therefore respond to various problems such as data security standards such as the GDPR in Europe, which requires data centers located in Europe. In addition, this provides a good level of performance by offering storage areas geographically close to their place of consumption.
- Flexibility: We can build backups and ensure continuity of service even in the event of an incident at a data center; a complete configuration can be transposed from one data center to another. Some operations can be automated, which saves us a lot of time and reduces the risk of error. For example, we can add or delete servers depending on the activity peaks.
- Microsoft’s commitment to become “carbon negative” in 2030: environmental preservation is an important cause at Lascom from Aptean. We strive to work with players who want to minimize their impact on. Not only do they want to be carbon negative by 2030, but they have announced that by 2050 they will have fully redeemed their carbon emissions since 1975.
Microsoft Azure & Aptean Food and Beverage PLM Lascom Edition: the pluses for our customers
Above all, we aim to provide the best level of service to our customers, based on reliability and efficiency. By choosing one of our Aptean Food and Beverage PLM Lascom Edition packaged offerings, they can access a turnkey PLM solution tailored to their food or cosmetic business, all without investment in hardware or licensing (CAPEX) and without engaging in an IT project (apart from setting up interfaces). The deployment takes place in a few months, most of which is dedicated to the migration of data, with a project methodology based on training and support. This is the guarantee of controlled project costs.
While an on-premise client should multiply processes and resources with each patch or minor release, SaaS allows for regular functional additions and application maintenance is managed by the vendor. Operating costs are leveled out. It is a saving of time and money for our customers!
